FYP 2 WEEK 5 (21/3/2022- 25/3/2022)

Continuous Progress on Aquaponics Project

"The Shelves" & Workshop 2

OBJECTIVES

  • 2nd Briefing about Final Year Project by Sir Shah Rizailli.
  • To gain knowledge about the requirement needed for Chapter 1 to 3.
  • Continuing work on to produce the aquaponic systems

CONTENTS

1. Workshop 2 Final Year Project (FYP)  Thesis and Proposal Writing

In week 5, the meeting was conducted on Microsoft Teams that involved the FYP Diploma/FYP1/FYP2/IFYP students and the attendance is compulsory. The briefing was conducted by Sir Shah Rizalli Mukhtar.

Date: 23th MArch 2022
Time: 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Venue: Online Microsoft Teams

In this briefing, the Final Year Project (FYP) committees have briefed us about:

  1. Thesis writing and proposal writing for chapter 1-3.
  2. Thesis and Proposal Format.
  3. Last week for registration project title.

2. Continue the work on building of aquaponics facilities.

After the installation work done on the gutter grow bed and filters. Another work process is carried out, namely the construction of shelves for the placement of all aquaponic hardware, it is more neat and orderly and I use the angle iron to build the shelves. I use the slotted iron angle bar to build the shelves.

3. Software simulation and calibration towards the sensors parameters.

Temperature Sensor Calibration

The temperature sensor calibration is carried out using a directly method by the Arduino Ide. All of the codes and terminology used in calibration can be found on the datasheet published on the manufacturer's website. The calibration process of this sensor is done by using the water in the fish tank.

pH Sensor Calibration

The pH sensor calibration is done by the Arduino Ide using a straightforward manner. The datasheet published on the manufacturer's website contains all of the calibration codes and language. This sensor's calibration is carried out with the help of the water in the fish tank.
To replicate a neutral pH measurement, the pH module must be unplugged from the probe and short-circuited before the calibration procedure can begin. One end of the stripped wire was wrapped around the outside BNC connector, while the other end was placed into the BNC connection's hole.

Dissolve Oxygen Sensor Calibration

DO sensor calibrations necessitate a calibration with a known value against which the reading is compared and corrected. The code for this sensor was available on the Atlas Scientific website, and it was able to run the process using the Arduino Ide.

The calibration is carried out by utilizing saturated water (tap water) and ensuring that the water temperature remains stable. The DO sensor and conductivity sensor must function properly, which necessitates rinsing the sensor probe with distilled water to eliminate any unknown material and ensure that it meets the accuracy requirements. The crystalized issues at the anode terminal of the probe should be maintained cleaned by using nail sharpener on the recommendation from the Atlas.

SUMMARY

  • All the work done during the week went smoothly and the next steps progress can be continuously implemented.
